Joanne’s new show, People and Places, is now available for viewing at Art Alive Gallery. She is the featured artist for the month of March.
When asked how she selects her subjects, Joanne responded with
“I love Colorado landscapes! I started painting them because they were out my back door and easy to get to. I continue to paint scenery because I really enjoy the colors I see in the mountains, trees, willows and bushes. It is much more than just green trees, blue skies and snowy mountains. Water is another favorite of mine to paint as it has such a reflective quality and really takes some ‘seeing’ to paint it successfully.”
Joanne has recently branched out into figurative work, starting with fly fishermen and moving to children and interesting “anonymous” people. She has also been known to paint the occasional dog or cat. Landscapes are still a favorite, however!
Arts Alive Gallery, a local artists’ Co-op is sponsored by the non-profit Summit County Art Council. Its mission is to promote visual arts and enhance the cultural life of Summit County.
You are cordially invited to meet Joanne at the artist’s reception for this exhibit, on Saturday, March 9th from 4 to 8 pm. The exhibit runs from March 1 to March 31, 2013.
The Arts Alive Gallery is located in the La Cima Mall in Breckenridge, 501 Main Street, and is open daily from 11 am to 7 pm.
